Nothing outrages me more than cruelty to animals, and this is another appalling example. You may have heard of the Asian dish called Shark Fin Soup. The fisherman grab the sharks from the ocean, brutally hack off all their fins then throw the poor creature back into the ocean. The mutilated shark cannot swim, cannot hunt, and perhaps after WEEKS of suffering will eventually die. It was noted by one conservationist that the shark appeared to be in a state of terror. Around 100 million sharks are killed every year for this soup. The shark fins have no taste, no nutritional value and is the equivalent of eating your own finger nails. [link] There are times when I am not only disgusted with humans, but am truly astonished by their sheer stupidity! And brutality! What kind of human would do this to such a magnificent creature? Ultimately it is the consumer to blame. It is the very same for the fur and ivory trade. If morons ceased to buy these products, these animals would not be hunted in such a way.
Sharks are often misunderstood. They are not the fierce man-eaters they are made out to so often be. If they attack a human it is usually because the shark has mistaken the human for their prey, ie: a turtle or seal. Most species of sharks are totally harmless, such as the Grey Nurse.
Are humans the most stupidest, most pointless creature of all? Truly, what purpose do we serve here? We are destroying this planet rapidly. It would seem we have no idea how to live in harmony with nature. Now they report that the world is running out of food. And some people talk about colonising other planets... what for? So we can spread our disease throughout entire galaxies??

Anguish 
The fact that a wolf hasn't attacked a human in Finland for over a hundred years doesn't matter to anyone, wolf is a predator and has no place in a "civilized" state like Finland. Bullshit. People are too afraid of wolves to let their children go to school by their own (this I can understand), and are afraid only because someone thought they'd seen a wolf in a place where there's been no wolves in about 50 years (this I can't understand). I understand wolves are a danger to some people's trades (sheep farms etc) and that those people want to minimise their losses, but still, the wolves have been here long before we ever did.
That rant is utterly comparable to the shark hysteria. Sharks attack humans so rarely it's ridiculous to think them so dangerous. Sharks are hunted mindlessly just because "they kill humans" and "they eat the fish away from fishermen", but the point still is, they've been here long before we ever were and have a far bigger right to any resources than we ever will.
I don't think either wolves or sharks are such an enormous danger to humans if they are allowed to lead their lives as their genes command them. The only reason wolves attack dogs in Finland is because we, the humans, took away their natural prey of deers and mooses.
I think human has noone else to blame, if the nature goes against him. What good has human ever done to nature?
This might sound like a lot ado about nothing, really, but it pisses me off real bad to see people shifting the blame away from their own shoulders all the time. I know I'm not the best possible person, but I atleast give it a shot. Turned out to be an awful rant
I've been wondering the exact same thing, reading the newspapers and all... I read an opinion someone had wrote about how a certain type of seabird (don't know it's english name, a big black one) just kills life on islands it lives on and eats all the good fish out of the sea. The first point is absolutely true (it's excrement is rather strong), but the second is completely false. Also, to add a comical view to it... There's about 1200 small islets off the coast from here - and the whole thing was actually named after the birds.
This just shows how far people ar of the traditions of their ancestors and the nature they live in. Those birds used to be a big part of daily life around here... A big enough part to name the place they got their living out of after them, and now those people's children say that... Just makes me ashamed of being a human sometimes.
Makes me feel so evil just to think of all the things our race has done wrong...
