The Carpathians

Wed Aug 29, 2007, 12:34 PM
A small collection of some of my favourite photos of the Carpathians in Romania.

I am mysteriously drawn to this place. :)  It inspired me to start this account and encouraged me to try photo manipulation for the first time.
From some research I've done, the Carpathians are noted to have 'mysterious forces'... There is a strong energy (magnetic) centre there, one of the most powerful in the world it is said .  It is also a place of outstanding natural beauty, one of the last great wildernesses in Europe.   It's conservation is of dire importance.  This is an excerpt.. " The Carpathians are exceptionally rich in species, the last European stronghold of large mammals including brown bears, wolves and lynx, for example. There are about four thousand wolves in the Carpathian region. The Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) has selected the Carpathians as one of their top two hundred eco-regions in the world. So it's an area of global importance in terms of nature."

This is my second Deviant Art account. The reason why I made a new account was that i wanted to explore a different art style. I never thought i'd have any talent for photo manipulation, but i think my first attempts turned out quite well.
:iconfairylord: FairyLord is my other account. Featured there are my traditional fantasy paintings inspired by beautiful long-haired boys. (warning: contains male nudity!)

Really?? I don't like cities at all! (oh, i think we talked about that once :) ) I would love to live in a forested place in big old castle :)

Yes, we spoke of that. There is something 'dominating' about a city. The rolling sweep of buildings destroying all nature just screams 'I am MAN and I conquer.' It's pretty inspiring, actually.

Hmm, man has indeed conquered... and destroyed! Nature is fragile, but nature will win in the end :P

Nature isn't fragile at all. All of it may be summed up by ivy, which is ever trying to grow out, to cover, and to absorb everything into itself. Ivy crawls into the crack and ivy slowly pushes apart buildings and swallows up everything man makes unless man pushes it back and pushes it back and pushes.

But ivy will still come back again.

Hope that made sense. LOL

Damn that ivy, huh? lol. Ivy may be resilient, but so much of nature has been destroyed and will never grow back. :(
