To oblivion

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 18, 2008, 11:54 AM
Everyday i turn on the tv and watch the news there's just more and more bad news.  I try to keep myself away from worldly affairs simply cos i have enough to deal with without being concerned about the umpteen problems of every thing and every one else... and it's not like my worry counts for ought in the greater scheme of things. But no one can ignore what is happening in the world right now, for it affects us all.   Number one is fuel.  Bloody fuel.  It's bringing this entire planet to its knees!!  It's NOT an issue of supply and demand.  It's the stock market and the greed of mankind (or a darker conspiracy yet to be unfolded).  It's reported that some oil fields in America are working BELOW capacity.  And whatever happened to green fuels like harnessing solar, wind and water energy?  Why are the governments allowing such mayhem?  There are fuel protests all around the globe.  Is there a REASON why the govs want to destroy the haulage industry?  The very backbone of any country... and the govs want to break it!
And on another fuel subject, the price of electricity and gas is reported to rise by 40% here in the UK by winter!  40% !!!!!!! wtf?!  These companies already hiked up fuel prices by 15% last winter and is already causing considerable hardship to many.  I can barely afford it now, but if that price rise happens, god only knows what i'll do.
Then there's those environmental problems.  Shit, the world really is falling apart.  Global warming, the destruction and extinction of so many animal and plant species.  The west has pillaged this earth for a long time, and now China is hungry for it's resources.  China, with its one billion people, is now claiming huge tracts of resources within Africa, South America and other countries to fuel it's fast growing economy.  It's unsustainable.
People continue to starve to death.  Countries continue to go to war.  The earth continues to be raped. Despite all the good efforts that people have made, those who offer help and aid to the desperate, it would seem if one problem is solved, another replaces it, and at a faster growing speed that anyone could possibly keep up with.
We are fast heading to oblivion...

I appreciate that this is late but I completely agree with you. This is why I barely watch the news anymore. :(

I used to follow the news every day, two or three times daily. I was always wrapped up in depression and fear. So I stopped for a long time, and my depression actually went away 100%! Now I keep up with the news online - it seems easier to bear when you aren't confronted with the images that accompany TV news.

Oh, i understand exactly how you feel! I try to keep myself from the news, yes, so depressing... and annoying too. I suffered from depression years ago, and the news would always make it worse. I literally kept myself from the world until i felt strong enough to face it again.

It makes you wonder what is REALLY going on. Governments seem to be acting in suspicious ways now more than ever. It would seem they are trying to control every aspect of our lives. In regards to what Canada is doing, something like this happened in the UK a few years back. I heard that the gov here was going to impose restrictions of certain food/health supplements and a lot of people were angry. I'm not sure what came of it but there doesnt' appear to be any significant changes. But yes, i would be deeply worried after reading that article!

i think an upheaval is going to happen... the governments worldwide are getting cocky and the common people in the masses are getting themselves educated... i don't think it's going to go on forever. there has to be a line and with all the population control Mother Nature has lined up, i think the people are going to be very unhappy with the governments slow responses to them.

Yes, it would seem some kind of upheaval is going to happen, or SHOULD happen. How much longer do the govs expect us to endure this kind of lifestyle? People have to work their butts off, and for what? They get their houses repossessed, they can't afford food, fuel, etc... it MUST end. I just hope this isn't just another blot in human history and a long term solution is found to the ailing condition of mankind.

The 70's-90's were probably one of the best times in the lifeline of man. but i think only nature can answer the call of this one. in the next decade, i really believe that she's going to lash us with all the elements. with any luck, that'll take out a large chunk of our population. what we need to do is go back to small farming communities.
another issue with now is that it's cheaper to be environmentally unsound. and a lot of people are wastes of space.
i hope that what happens makes those unaware of their true nature wake up to it.
